So before I left San Fran I finally went into this store on Haight. I’m happy I did cuz it was awesome! They have some pretty amazing things. My friend whom I saw later that night described it as “demonic” and while I can see how it might be translated that way, I thought it was amazing to see certain creatures like a peacock, taxidermied (is that a word?). Not only did they have cool animals but the way they displayed them was even more interesting. In the back of the shop they have a small gallery where their animals tell awesome stories. I had taken pics of some of the displays along with the very witty descriptions but unfortunately my sd card on my phone was reformatted. :( Luckily they have a site.

OUTSIDE THE INSIDE
Mental illness is inside
It’s not physical
So you can’t tell
If someone suffers
A mental illness.
That’s what they say.
That’s what they say
But you can.
It’s written in the eyes
On the face.
We live in a world of in and out
Come and go
Now or not.
When is the last time you looked
Into someone’s eyes
For more than 30 seconds
During a conversation
Or an intimate moment
Or ever?
Depression lodges itself in the lids
Mania stirs itself in the eye
And eyes tell a story
A physical
Gateway
To the inside.
The mental illness that rests
Inside.
As it sits outside
On the face.
